Electric Ab Belt

abdominal beltThe idea of “Shocking” your abdominal muscles into shape might seem a little strange to some, but to those who are familiar with electronic muscle stimulation it’s just an effective method of using a tried and tested technology that works.

Ab belts are growing in popularity as a means to firm and tone your ab muscles and develop a nice set of six pack abs. With busy lifestyles and demands both professional and family it can be difficult to find the time each day for a fifteen to twenty minute abdominal workout.

By using an ab belt you solve the problem of not enough time since you can do other activities while you perform your daily session with your ab belt while you: watch TV or a movie, read a book, pay your bills, or even wash the dishes.

How Do They Work?

Electronic Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is the technology used in just about every electric ab belt.

A low pulse is sent through your stomach and nerves which causes your abdominals to flex and contract. You hold the flex for a few moments, and then relax when the sensation passes. This is continued for up to twenty minutes and can result in upwards of 150 flexes per session.

EMS is used in rehab patients and by physiotherapists trying to strengthen muscles in patients with injuries. The exact same technology can work wonders in that capacity. An electric ab belt is simply bringing that technology home for you to use more easily and directly on your abdominals.

Is it Safe?

While there is a slight sensation you will feel while wearing an Ab Belt it’s not dangerous. The power exerted from the belt is very low, after all most run on a small rechargeable batter or set of AA or AAA batteries.

Which Electric Ab Belt?

We like The Flex Belt for a couple of reasons. First it’s the belt that has been recognized by the FDA as a tested and proven device to tone and firm your ab muscles. It’s also one of the only electric ab belts that uses a rechargeable batter instead of AA’s. I cannot say exactly how long AA’s will last in an ab belt, but I know anytime I have the choice of purchasing a device with a rechargeable batter instead of wasting batteries that I have to purchase and throw out when I’m done, I always go for the rechargeable.
